High School Grad Gift Guide
1. Pilot FriXion Ball Knock Retractable Gel Ink Pens
These pens are great! I wished they existed when I was in college. :( They are great for note taking and doodling, and their best feature is that the ink completely erases through friction. I personally own all three size sets, but I prefer the 0.5mm!
2. Rifle Paper Company’s Everyday Journal in Jardin Smyth
Notebooks will always hold a special place in my heart, and I always have a notebook in my handbag. I keep to-do lists, shopping lists, lists of new bands and songs I liked while listening to KCRW’s Morning Becomes Eclectic, notes on new books featured on NPR, and lists of restaurants I want to try. There is something so special about having a notebook filled with your handwritten notes. You feel like you are traveling through time with as you look back on old entries!
3. Moleskine Weekly Notebook - 18 months
To feed off of my love of notebooks, I also have kept a weekly planner ever since high school. Recently, when I was at my parents house, I picked up my 2006 journal and was transported back nine years! It was filled with lots of dinner dates, concerts, weekend trips to Santa Barbara and San Diego, job interviews, a funemployment weekend trip to NYC, then starting a new job. You're basically giving the gift of memories with this pick!
4. Mead Cambridge Limited Action Planner Business Notebook
In college, I always bought the school three-subject notebooks for each quarter. They were heavy duty on the outside but so wasteful since I never used up the allocated 50 to 100 pages. I prefer these Mead Cambridge Notebooks, and the best part is the empty section on the left which I use as reminders or to highlight notes!
5. DROID Turbo Sapphire Blue by Motorola
I did not get a smartphone until 2008! Since then, I have had eight different phones. My favorite phone of all time was the Moto X, which I customized with a bright green back, blue buttons and a black front. It was a sturdy phone, and I loved the great ergonomic features, so you can count me as a Motorola fan!
They now have a new version of their Droid Turbo which comes in Sapphire Blue. The key features of this phone are the amazing battery life and quick charging. If there is something that a college student needs, it is to save time and to not fret about a dying phone! That will NOT be a problem with this phone series. The quick charging is made possible with the Motorola Turbo Charger which will provide 8 hours of power with only 15 minutes of charging. THAT IS AMAZING! One special thing about the model is that the back is made with premium ballistic nylon which provides a nice texture meanwhile remaining lightweight and strong.
6. Fjallraven Totepack No.1
This totepack is a tote bag with convertible straps which turn it into a backpack. It is roomy enough to hold a small notebook computer, notebooks, lots of pens (I always have at least 15 in my bag), glasses, sunglasses, a water bottle and a coffee mug. This is my current work bag and I wish I had this bag while I was in school.
7. Xooter Mg Scooter
Most people on campus prefer bicycles, but I prefer the scooter! This premium scooter has a wide base which allows you to stand on both feet while cruising. You won’t be going as fast as if you were on a bike, but you will still get to your destination faster than walking. The scooter is also foldable which means you can carry it instead of having to lock it up!
8. Contigo Tranquil Water Bottle
This water bottle is great because it is so easy to clean. It looks great and comes in a variety of seasonal colors. I own one jade, and my sisters also own the purple and watermelon versions. People who know me know my problem with collecting drinking vessels... it requires so much willpower to not add one more bottle to my collection!
Thanks, Mary! I can personally vouch for her expertise on all things related to tech and cute office supplies, which is why I deferred to the expert and her awesome picks. :)
So, get to celebrating your graduate's awesome accomplishment and remember to send them off into the world with something that will be amazing for their next chapter in life.
Happy shopping!
