As you may know by now, I am a huge proponent of recycling, upcycling, and reusing. Also, I love anything that saves me a few pennies, and this is a DIY tip that is very budget-friendly and super-easy. Besides, anything that keeps my home sparkling without chemicals is always a plus!
Yes, I had a sneak peek of this tip allllll the way back when I shared my upcycling Mason Jar tips, so this has been a long time coming. You'll see why I needed to wait so long to share this with you!
What You Will Need:
- Glass jar
- Orange peels
- Vinegar (regular white vinegar, nothing fancy)
- Bowl
- Fine Mesh Sieve
- Funnel
- Spray Bottle
- Water
Directions
1. Place your orange peels into a glass jar and cover with vinegar.
2. The hardest part... wait at least 2 weeks!
3. After at least two weeks, get out the rest of your supplies. Place your mesh sieve in your bowl.
4. Dump the contents of the jar into the bowl.
5. You can squeeze the orange peels to get all of the liquid out.
6. Make sure that all little bits and pieces are out of the solution. You should not need to strain it again if you used a fine mesh sieve.
6. Now, you have two options. You can leave it full strength for deep-cleaning, but for an all-purpose cleaner, it is better to mix it with water. I mix it in a 1 to 1 ratio, as you can see below.
- In this 32 oz. bottle, I filled it to 16 oz. with the orange vinegar solution and added water to the top.
And that's it! Check out how pretty orange it is below. You should shake up the solution every time before using it, and it will work surprisingly well as an all-purpose cleaner!
Also, even though it is orange-colored and smells like orange, it still faintly smells of vinegar. Still, it is not overwhelming and it is soooo much better than the chemical smell that other cleaners have.
Next, I am looking forward to switching out more of my cleaners to more natural brands, whether or not they are DIY or storebought, but this is a great start!
