Happy Monday! You may all be recovering from a busy weekend, which I know I am! Today, I am taking a break from all of the Thanksgiving posts to bring you a good-old fashioned slider! You remember from previous posts that I am now a football tailgating queen around here! I shared two recipes for turkey meatballs and chocolate monkey bread, which were definitely delicious. But now I have an even easier one to share with you today! No measuring, no chopping, and practically no clean-up!
I came up with this recipe because I knew we would be hosting a couple of kids for our next football party. That meant I had to make something fun and delicious just for them! I know that children adore chicken nuggets and because I have a thing for chicken & waffle sandwiches, I came up with this kid-sized version using Tyson Chicken Nuggets!

I know that children adore chicken nuggets and because I have a thing for chicken & waffle sandwiches, I came up with this kid-sized version using Tyson Chicken Nuggets!
Truth be told, I could not decide which kind of slider to make. For one thing, Tyson Chicken nuggets come in both Cheesy Chicken and Spicy Chicken versions. I bought both and gave them completely different tastes! Scroll on down to see my completely unique versions! Honestly, I loved that both of them were perfectly crispy on the outside and tender on the inside.
Best of all, these are incredibly simple to make! I made my "test sandwiches" last weekend to see how they would turn out. Really they were so good, I was tempted to make the rest of the bag! I left it to my guy to make the rest of the sliders this weekend while I was at the Patchwork Show. He made them perfectly, so you know it has to be simple! Also, it turned out that some of the "big kids" were perfectly happy stealing the sliders from the little ones. :)
Chicken Nugget & Waffle Sliders
Ingredients
- Tyson Spicy Chicken Nuggets (approximately 40 per package)
- Tyson Cheesy Chicken Nuggets (approximately 40 per package)
- Nonstick spray
- Mini Waffles OR regular sized waffles cut into four
- Maple syrup
- Cole slaw (I used storebought for convenience)
Note: The nuggets can be found in Walmart in the frozen chicken section, located down the frozen meals aisle.
Here are the packages that you'll be looking for! Right now, the Cheesy Nuggets have a certain mouse on the front for a special promotion. If you clip the coupon on specially marked packages Tyson Cheesy Chicken Nuggets and bring it to Chuck E. Cheese, you can purchase 130 Tokens for only $25 (a savings of $7.50). Great deal!

Directions
1. Spray a baking sheet with nonstick spray.
2. Bake the nuggets at 400F for 10 minutes. I turned once during the 10 minutes for the maximum crunchy crust and to add my mini waffles!
All done!
Ready to make some sliders. :)
3. To make the cheesy nugget sliders, top the bottom waffle with cole slaw. Then, add a cheesy nugget and a waffle on top!
4. For the spicy nugget slider, there are a few ways to do this! You can add use top either of the waffles with the maple syrup or pour it over the nugget. I suggest that you either put it on the bottom waffle, to keep the nugget moist OR use it as a dipping sauce on the side.
I decided to pour it over the top for these pictures. Besides, it was okay if my fingers got sticky, but you might mind if you plan on serving these to the little ones!
FYI, here is the 130 Token promo to Chuck E. Cheese that you might want to take advantage of!
Now that I started staring at pictures of these lovelies, I think I might pop a few in the oven since they are so simple. I'll be back in 10 minutes! :)
Just kidding! If I had any left in the freezer, I would definitely be tempted to finish them off. I hope these add a little bit of flair to your next party with (or without) your kids. Honestly, I think I could really get into football, if this is what the food is going to be like. :)
Enjoy!
Oh my - this is awesome! Easy + delicious? I'm all about it. Yet another recipe of yours I'll have to try!

ReplyDeleteYes! It's kind of addicting actually. :) I just replied to Leia about how I have cravings for Roscoe's Chicken & Waffles occasionally. I even had a birthday there once. :) Some of my more posh foodie friends didn't understand why... until they got their food. Ok, now I'm craving a midnight snack!
