Pencil Skirt Challenge Roundup!

Hello all!

Two weeks ago, I shared the Peplum Pencil Skirt that I made for the Pencil Skirt challenge.  If you're not familiar with our Facebook sewing group, "Stitch Once, Rip Twice," you can read up on it here and click here to join in on the fun!

Today, I'm sharing the pencil skirts that our members contributed to our challenge.  If I'm counting correctly, we had 6 members from California, Oklahoma, New York, Canada, England, and Italy share their lovely projects!  We had skirts made with neutrals, prints, bold colors, summery fabrics, winter wools, classic shapes, modern details, new patterns, old patterns, and no pattern at all!

Really, I love seeing everybody's take on the same challenge, so before I bore everyone too much, here's our Pencil Skirt Challenge Roundup!

First up, Kristin from Sew Classic sewed up a pretty pink number, and made it fit like a glove with a few alterations to her pattern.  Read about them here!

Next, Amy from SewsNBows shared this pretty floral pencil skirt.  Cute pleated pockets with ric rac?  Adorable!  Click here to read more.

For all of you new readers to Vintage Zest, I finally conquered a peplum after succumbing in my last challenge by sewing up this peplum pencil skirt!  Read all about it here!

Irene of Serger Pepper tested this cute pattern and came up with a very elegant skirt!  I love the pinstripes personally.  :)  Read more about her thoughts on the pattern here.

Rachel from The Hollywood Sew wasn't initially too crazy about the idea of a pencil skirt, what with her cutest accessory taking up a big chunk of her time.  :)  Then, she received some fashion inspiration from one of my favorite sources and sewed up this fabulous skirt!  Click here to see the muse for the skirt.

Tiffany of Tiffany's Notions and Knits refashioned two very ill-fitting skirts into two cute, wearable garments!  Bonus point for upcycling!  Click here to see her before photos and the other garment.

And here's a couple of bonus skirts, the first one from one of our newest members who started sewing only a few weeks ago!  Rheanna from Can She Sew It? joined just after we finished our challenge but was coincidentally working on a self-drafted pencil skirt!  Click here to see her progress so far!

Bonus skirt #2 from Nay of The Wardrobe Surgeon!  She joined just before our challenge ended and whipped up this skirt in a couple of weeks!  She shared some of the trials she had while making it, and even a fun tip involving toilet paper!  Click here to find out what it is!

Well, that's the end of another successful challenge!  I'm happy to see that some of us could stand to stay inside with our sewing machines when it's been such a beautiful summer this year.  :)

I was going to announce our next challenge, but it looks like we have a tie!  I'm happy to say that it will either be an item inspired by the 1960s or refashioning an existing garment.  Completely different choices, right?

I'll post what we finally decide on within the next couple of weeks, and hopefully some of you can join in on the fun!
